Question: What motivated the creation of the Land of Oz in Beech Mountain?
Answer: The Land of Oz in North Carolina was created in the late 1960s to transform Beech Mountain into a summer tourist destination. Inspired by the natural terrain’s emerald grass and twisted trees, designer Jack Pentes envisioned a magical Wizard of Oz-themed park. The project was initiated by developer Grover Robbins, building on the success of his nearby Tweetsie Railroad, to attract visitors with its immersive experience.
