Question: What was Blackbeard’s ship called before he renamed it the Queen Anne’s Revenge?

Answer: Blackbeard’s famous pirate ship was originally a British-turned-French vessel called La Concorde. When Blackbeard captured the ship a year before his death, most of its defenses had been stripped away to make room for more slaves. It was easily out-maneuvered due to its size and load on the open water, so the crew promptly surrendered the ship when the pirates caught up with them. Blackbeard and his crew refitted her and renamed her the Queen Anne’s Revenge

Bonus info: In 2011, the Queen Anne’s Revenge wreckage was found just off the coast of North Carolina near the Beaufort inlet, and is now owned by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
