Former president Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance spoke in Asheboro Wednesday, Trump’s first outdoor rally since the July 13 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

Trump addressed a large crowd at the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame from behind bulletproof glass.

He focused on foreign policy, asserting that he’s the best candidate for managing world affairs. Vance questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’ handling of immigration at the southern border.

At one point, a woman in the crowd fainted, and Trump left the stage to check on her. You can see it near the end of this video

Article Icon 1New I-440 Traffic Patterns Take Effect

Drivers on Interstate 440 in Raleigh must follow a new traffic pattern in place through Sept. 3.

Road crews are installing temporary off-ramps for Wade Avenue and Hillsborough Street, and re-striping pavement on the ramps connecting Western Boulevard and Hillsborough Street to the Beltline.

This phase is part of the ongoing I-440 widening project, which began in 2019 and will cost approximately $346.2 million in state funds.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will implement temporary traffic patterns on I-40 East near Walnut Street in Cary to accommodate the construction.

Article Icon 1‘Miracle Mansion’ Pastor Sentenced

Michael Baldwin, a pastor from Virginia accused of scamming a church in Charlotte out of $370,000, was sentenced to 27 months in prison Tuesday.

The overall scheme involved an $800,000 investment. Nearly half the funds came from Charlotte’s Harbor Baptist Church.

In 2022, a jury found Baldwin guilty of wire fraud and securities fraud. His sentence Tuesday includes three years of supervised release after his prison term.

For years Baldwin said the money raised would be used to build a “Miracle Mansion” rooted in Christian values. Much of the funds, however, paid for his travel, meals, credit cards, and more.
