Question: What is the Noquisi Initiative?
Answer: The Noquisi Initiative is a nonprofit founded in 2016 dedicated to preserving and promoting Cherokee culture in Western North Carolina. Through partnerships with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and local organizations, it is developing a Cherokee Cultural Corridor, interpreting historic sites, restoring heritage apple species, and fostering heritage tourism and community healing.
