The Daily Tar Heel reported Sunday that a UNC student plans to file a Title IX lawsuit against UNC-Chapel Hill, alleging the university failed to ensure basketball player Zayden High complied with sanctions after he filmed her without consent during a sexual encounter.

The student, who will remain anonymous as Jane Doe, and her attorney, Skye David, plan to file the lawsuit in the next couple of weeks. David is a staff attorney for the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

High was formally dismissed on Aug. 27, 2024, after the university found he had filmed the student without her consent.

UNC’s media relations department didn’t answer The Daily Tar Heel’s questions about High’s misconduct, stating the university can’t comment on student discipline matters due to federal privacy laws.

A military jeep-like Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) tested by the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg is now in production in North Carolina, built by Hendrick Motorsports in Mooresville and then delivered to the military from a GM center in Cabarrus County.

Officially named the M1301, the vehicle can quickly move up to nine soldiers and their gear over rough terrain, and be transported by helicopters or other aircraft during air assault and airborne assault missions.

The ISV is made from the road-legal Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 midsize truck but features a doorless design, steel and aluminum body panels, and a NASCAR steel roll bar. Scott Lampe, president of Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions, says it also mixes in components of a Baja dune buggy and race car.

The first unit equipped with the ISV was the First Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg. The overall Army requirement is for 2,593 ISVs.

NC State’s College of Veterinary Medicine announced the birth of five red wolf puppies in May. View photos of the pups here.

The university’s Carnivore Conservation Crew, made up of students, faculty, and clinicians, manages the vet school’s Red Wolf Recovery Program, part of a nationwide effort to save the critically endangered species from extinction. The crew provides medical and husbandry services for a pack of red wolves that includes breeding pairs.

There are around 250 red wolves currently under human care at approximately 50 partner facilities, including NC State, the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, and the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.

Fewer than 20 red wolves live in the wild, all within the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge on the Albemarle Peninsula in eastern North Carolina.
