Question: What was the original purpose of the Pisgah Atronomical Research Institute’s site?
Answer: The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) site near Rosman, North Carolina, was originally used by NASA in 1962 as one of the nation’s first satellite-tracking stations. Over the next 30 years, NASA and the Department of War (then referred to as the Department of Defense) invested several hundred million dollars in the 200-acre campus until it was relocated in 1995. In 1998, Don and Jo Cline bought the site and created PARI as a not-for-profit public organization dedicated to providing hands-on educational, business, and research opportunities.
