Question: What makes the Roanoke River Lighthouse in Edenton unique?
Answer: It is the last remaining screw-pile lighthouse in the state. The structure has survived hurricanes, ice floes, war, and neglect, and was relocated several times before becoming a beautifully preserved landmark on Edenton Bay. It originally stood in the Albemarle Sound, where it marked the entrance to the Roanoke River near Plymouth.
