Question: What parts of North Carolina did the Tuscarora tribe originally live in?

Answer: The Tuscarora tribe originally lived in North Carolina’s inner Coastal Plain, notably along the upper Neuse, Tar, and Roanoke rivers, and also along Catechna (now Contentnea) Creek. After the Tuscarora War, survivors were granted the Indian Woods Reservation in Bertie County, as shown on maps from 1733, 1770, and 1808.
