Question: Where did America’s first documented gold discovery take place?

Answer: The first documented gold discovery took place in Cabarrus County, North Carolina in 1799 when 12-year-old Conrad Reed found a 17-pound nugget in Little Meadow Creek on his family’s farm. Known today as Reed Gold Mine, this historic site is open to the public and also claims the honor of being where America’s first gold rush began.
