Answer: The Town of Emerald Isle claims shamrocks are “emerald green” and therefore hosts the Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Day Festival in celebration of the annual holiday. The event features traditional live music, kids’ rides, arts and crafts vendors, specialty foods, and Irish beer. It’s considered one of the largest events held on the Crystal Coast each year. This year’s festival kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m.
