Own The Flyover
From the Founder’s Desk:Why I Want Flyover Readers to Own Flyover North Carolina

When I decided to accept investors in Flyover North Carolina, one thing mattered to me more than anything: that our readers would have the chance to become our owners. If I had my druthers, every single investor in Flyover North Carolina would be a Flyover North Carolina reader. That’s why we’ve structured this offering with you in mind:
  • 5% bonus shares for all Flyover North Carolina readers who invest
  • An additional 5% and 10% bonus for those investing larger amounts
Legally, the offering is open to any U.S. citizen. But my heart—and our strategy—are focused on keeping ownership in the hands of our readers. Right now, we’re less than $350,000 away from hitting 50% of our ultimate funding goal – but our Q3 deadline for 50% raised has passed and we are behind.
That’s why I’m asking our readers one more time: will you consider investing in Flyover North Carolina today?
But some of our readers are asking: “How do I get a return on my investment?”
Here’s why Flyover North Carolina is different:
  • Already profitable after just two years (most start-ups never are)
  • 80% gross margins and 24% net income (exceptional margins)
  • In the top 1% of media start-ups (proven strength)
How investors could realize returns:
  1. A Sale – Only to a partner who shares our values. (CNN or the New York Times need not apply.)
  2. Public Listing – Shares traded openly on an exchange.
  3. Profit Distributions (Dividends) – Because we’re already profitable, this is possible.
Recap: Sale. Listing. Distributions.
My Closing Pitch

More than 1,450 Flyover readers have already joined us as investors. We’re just $350K away from our next milestone. If you’ve been considering investing, now is the moment. Let’s finish this round together and make Flyover North Carolina a news company truly owned by its readers.

Will you be one of the investors who help us keep Flyover North Carolina reader-owned?

The Roundup

Article Icon 1Federal Judge Rules for Senate Redistricting

A federal judge ruled in favor of North Carolina legislators Tuesday, dismissing a lawsuit by two black voters who challenged Senate Districts 1 and 2 for racial gerrymandering under the Voting Rights Act.

U.S. District Judge James Dever found that the plaintiffs failed to prove their Section 2 claim, which alleged the districts violated the Voting Rights Act by diluting black voters’ influence.

Dever cited the success of black candidates in non-majority-black districts, emphasizing crossover voting and societal progress. He also criticized House Democratic leader Rep. Robert Reives for questioning whether Rep. Dante Pittman’s biracial identity qualified as black.

Republican state Senate leader Phil Berger called the ruling a “BIG WIN!” for his party ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Article Icon 1UNC Puts Professor on Leave

UNC-Chapel Hill placed Dr. Dwayne Dixon, a professor of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, on administrative leave effective Monday to investigate allegations that he advocated politically motivated violence, potentially violating university tenure policies.

At issue is Dixon’s alleged affiliation with Redneck Revolt, which describes itself as an anti-racist, anti-fascist organization. Dixon denies current involvement with the group and called for “solidarity and love … to preserve our liberties.”

Vice Chancellor for Communications Dean Stoyer said that Dixon’s conduct “could be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including potential termination of employment” depending on the nature and circumstances of the activity.

Students and community members planned to rally in support of Dixon yesterday at the South Building, which houses top administrative offices such as the Office of the Chancellor.

Article Icon 16 OBX Homes Collapse in 1 Day

Five beachfront homes on Hatteras Island in Buxton collapsed into the ocean between 2 and 2:45 p.m. Tuesday due to flooding and high surf triggered by Hurricanes Imelda and Humberto.

Then, around 11 p.m., a sixth home in the same area collapsed. It was unoccupied at the time and had been flagged as unstable due to severe beach erosion.

These collapses follow another that occurred in Buxton within the past two weeks, bringing the local total to seven. A total of 18 Hatteras Island homes have fallen since 2020, including earlier collapses in Rodanthe.

The National Park Service has closed a section of beach north of Sea Haven Drive, urging visitors to avoid the area due to hazardous debris and ongoing cleanup efforts.
