Article Icon 1President Trump Delivers Speech in Rocky Mount

President Trump rallied supporters in Rocky Mount, highlighting the state’s importance in recent elections and encouraging backing for Republican Senate candidate Michael Whatley. He also referenced hurricane recovery efforts and public safety, framing them as areas where federal leadership matters to North Carolina voters.

Trump used the appearance to outline his administration’s economic priorities, citing a recent inflation report, lower gas prices, and job growth. He also pointed to proposed tax changes aimed at increasing take-home pay, including no taxes on tips, overtime, or Social Security benefits.

The speech also focused on healthcare and border policy. Trump highlighted efforts to lower prescription drug prices and reiterated support for stricter immigration enforcement. He said tariffs are intended to protect U.S. manufacturing, including North Carolina’s furniture industry. Watch the full speech here.

The Western North Carolina mountain town of Franklin is highlighted in Southern Living for its blend of outdoor recreation, historic character, and small-town charm that continues to draw visitors beyond the Smokies’ more crowded destinations.

From the Little Tennessee River Greenway and nearby Appalachian Trail access to gem mining, museums, and a walkable downtown, Franklin offers year-round activities rooted in the region’s natural and cultural history.
