Own The Flyover
We’re Nearly There

Over the last 12 days, we’ve been sprinting toward one goal: reaching 2,000 reader-investors. Today, I want to be fully transparent—we fell short. As I write this, we’re about 147 investors away.

Falling short never feels good. And yet, I’m enormously grateful.

1,853 of you have already stepped up to become owners of The Flyover. You’ve placed your trust, your belief, and your investment behind what we’re building. Because of that support, we’ve accomplished more in the last few months than at any point in our history. This morning alone, we delivered to a record 3.7 million readers, and our revenue is up 24% month-over-month.

That’s because of you.

The Flyover is building something different: a newsroom for common-sense Americans. A home for people who stopped watching the news because they couldn’t trust it. A publication committed to honesty, fairness, and fact-first reporting.

To keep building this movement, reaching 2,000 investors truly matters.

So today, I’m being straight with you: we’re close, but we need your help. If you’ve considered investing—whether small or large—today would be the day. If The Flyover has earned your trust, we hope you’ll take that final step and become an investor.

Article Icon 1Federal Judges Uphold Several Redrawn Districts

Three federal judges upheld several U.S. House Districts that had been drawn in 2023 after allegations of voter dilution and racial discrimination were made. Some claim the redrawn maps helped Republicans gain more seats in 2024.

Several plaintiffs, including the NAACP and Common Cause, among others, filed two separate suits. The 181-page court decision over the 2023 map came from U.S. Appeals Court Judge Allison Jones Rushing and U.S. District Judges Richard Myers and Thomas Schroeder, all of whom had been appointed by Republican presidents.

Judges have yet to rule on challenges to the recently redrawn congressional map.

Article Icon 1AAA Predicts Record-Breaking Holiday Travel

A record number of North Carolinians are expected to travel for Thanksgiving this year, even if just short distances of 50 miles or less, according to AAA, with an increase of 1.6 million travelers on Thanksgiving Day nationwide.

Over 73 million Americans are predicted to drive by car to their destinations, including 2 million North Carolinians. Overall, 82 million Americans will be traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday, up 2% from last year.

If you’re traveling by air, this will be the first Thanksgiving where Real ID laws are taking effect. Those without Real ID can use a passport to get through TSA. The TSA also began a new identification process that doesn’t involve a Real ID but costs $18 and only lasts for 10 days.

Planning to travel during the week of Thanksgiving? Check out the weather forecast before leaving home.

Article Icon 1Charlotte Baker Makes Birthday Cakes for Homeless

Charlotte bakery owner Manolo Betancur makes and delivers birthday cakes for the city’s homeless population through the local nonprofit Raise You Up Ministries.

Betancur, a Colombian immigrant who came to America 25 years ago to attend college in Tennessee, bought his bakery in 2005. For the past 12 years, he’s been baking cakes to celebrate the birthdays of homeless people. His bakery has given out more than 300 cakes.

It’s about human dignity. We live in a society where more and more people become invisible for us. We walk over them,” says Betancur.

The community birthday event hosted by Raise You Up also gives out free meals and haircuts to those in need.
