Gov. Josh Stein declared a state of emergency over the weekend as North Carolina braces for heavy rain and possible flooding from Tropical Depression 9, which could strengthen into Tropical Storm Imelda.

The order allows the State Emergency Response Team to mobilize resources, while local agencies in Randolph County and Burlington warned residents to prepare for severe weather and rising water.

Officials urged North Carolinians to prepare emergency kits, monitor forecasts, and follow local guidance.
