A Moore County man was arrested Friday at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, accused of impersonating law enforcement while armed ahead of Sunday’s memorial for conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk.

Court documents say the man, identified as 42-year-old Joshua Runkles of Cameron, presented a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office badge and an Idaho law enforcement ID card when questioned by security.

He was later detained by the Secret Service after being found with a weapon. Runkles told staff he was providing security for the event through Turning Point USA, but the group said he was not properly coordinated with their security team. He was released on bond.

A year after Hurricane Helene devastated western North Carolina, Explore Asheville says nearly 88% of Buncombe County partner businesses are open and welcoming visitors. Just 2.7% remain temporarily closed, with many planning to reopen.

The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority has tracked closures and reopenings since the storm to measure recovery and provide resources to businesses and visitors.

Officials noted that FEMA data shows that up to 65% of small businesses close within a year of a major disaster, underscoring the region’s resilience.

In a newsletter update, Explore Asheville credited local partnerships while cautioning that challenges remain.

Article Icon 1Girls in Aviation Day Draws Record Crowd

More than 260 girls gathered Saturday at the Samaritan’s Purse hangar in Greensboro for the 11th annual Girls in Aviation Day, setting a record turnout for the local event.

At the event, attendees toured planes, participated in hands-on activities, and heard from role models like United Airlines Pilot Beth Latshaw.

Samaritan’s Purse partnered with Women in Aviation International to host the event, which highlights opportunities in one of North Carolina’s fastest-growing industries.

Organizers say they hope the experience inspires girls to pursue futures as pilots, engineers, and aviation leaders.

The Flyover

A groundbreaking discovery is transforming how we understand memory and brain health.

Scientists at the prestigious Weinberg College of Chicago recently built the world’s most advanced atomic microscope, powerful enough to look deep inside a living, active brain. What they saw left them stunned: the true location of memory cells and how these cells shape our daily habits, decisions, and even personality.

Even more exciting, their research revealed a simple way to restore lost memory and sharpen mental clarity—without expensive treatments or risky medications. A revolutionary mental training program now makes it possible to reverse even severe memory loss using just a few easy, 3-minute techniques.

Because it relies on natural brain retraining—not drugs or supplements—powerful corporations are already trying to keep this discovery from the public.

The opportunity to reclaim your memory may not be available for long.
