Own The Flyover

From the Founder’s Desk:
Why I Want The Flyover Readers to Own The Flyover

When I decided to accept investors in The Flyover, one thing mattered to me more than anything: that our readers would have the chance to become our owners. If I had my druthers, every single investor in The Flyover would be a Flyover reader. That’s why we’ve structured this offering with you in mind:

  • 5% bonus shares for all Flyover readers who invest

  • An additional 5% bonus for those investing in our current round from $1M to $2M

Legally, the offering is open to any U.S. citizen. But my heart—and our strategy—are focused on keeping ownership in the hands of our readers. Right now, we’re less than $130,000 away from hitting $2 million raised. Once we cross that mark, the extra 5% bonus goes away.

That’s why I’m asking our readers one more time: will you consider investing in The Flyover today?

But some of our readers are asking: “How do I get a return on my investment?”

Here’s why The Flyover is different:

  • Already profitable after just two years (most start-ups never are)
  • 80% gross margins and 24% net income (exceptional margins)
  • In the top 1% of media start-ups (proven strength)

How investors could realize returns:

  1. A Sale – Only to a partner who shares our values. (CNN or the New York Times need not apply.)

  2. Public Listing – Shares traded openly on an exchange.

  3. Profit Distributions (Dividends) – Because we’re already profitable, this is possible.

Recap: Sale. Listing. Distributions.

My Closing Pitch

More than 1,225 Flyover readers have already joined us as investors. We’re just $130K away from our next milestone—and once we hit it, the chance at 10% bonus shares drops to 5%.  If you’ve been considering investing, now is the moment. Let’s finish this round together and make The Flyover a news company truly owned by its readers.

Will you be one of the investors who help us keep The Flyover reader-owned?

The Roundup

Article Icon 1NC Reacts to Charlie Kirk’s Death

North Carolina leaders, students, and businesses are reacting to the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Gov. Josh Stein called the act “senseless,” while Sens. Thom Tillis and Ted Budd offered prayers as the suspect remains at large.

NC State Turning Point USA members expressed shock and grief over the conservative advocate’s death, calling him a hero and mentor. Chapter members painted tributes in the Free Expression Tunnel and held a vigil for Kirk at Talley Student Union on Thursday night.

Duke and Durham community members held a vigil mourning Kirk on Wednesday night, condemning political violence and urging civil discourse and unity.

In Charlotte, the Carolina Panthers reportedly fired communications staffer Charlie Rock for posting a controversial comment on social media about Kirk’s death. The post, referencing Kirk’s 2023 Second Amendment comments, went viral and led to Rock’s dismissal.

Article Icon 1More FEMA Funds Released for Helene Recovery

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced $12 million in FEMA grants Tuesday for North Carolina communities recovering from Hurricane Helene, targeting infrastructure and disaster resilience.

The grants follow a broader $322 million FEMA commitment, with $161 million disbursed since July 14.

Western North Carolina leaders, including Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer, reported delays in federal reimbursements, with funds delayed in the office of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for expenditures over $100,000, impacting projects like Asheville’s $11 million water filtration system.

Sen. Ted Budd (R-N.C.) criticized DHS for delays in delivering the reimbursements, calling the process slow and demanding that authority be delegated to speed up payments.

Article Icon 1Durham Becomes a ‘4th Amendment Workplace’

Durham’s City Council voted unanimously to declare Durham a “Fourth Amendment Workplace” on Sept. 2, directing staff not to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents without a judicial warrant.

The resolution was prompted by the progressive activist group Siembra NC and an ICE appearance at the Durham County Courthouse.

Supporters view the declaration as upholding constitutional rights, but critics, including the NC Center for Constitutional Law, call it a sanctuary policy that obstructs federal immigration enforcement, fosters mistrust in law enforcement, and lacks legal grounding.
