Question: Why is the Biltmore Village McDonald’s referred to as “the world’s fanciest McDonald’s”?

Answer: When McDonald’s originally opened its Biltmore Village franchise in 2000, the Biltmore Historic Resources Commission wasn’t pleased. The result: a renovation that elevated its look to be more in line with that of the Biltmore Estate down the road. The octagonal dining room was adorned with red oak tables, wrought iron railings, and elegant chandeliers under a pressed-tin ceiling. A baby grand player piano was placed in the corner, and a gold-leaf mantled fireplace formed the base of a giant stone chimney. The staff also wore slacks and bow ties.
